Unexpected things happen and you may need to change the status of your scheduled event or game. Or you may just want to add a status to a new event or game. Either way, both are easy to include.
1. First, locate the event or game in question and click on the ••• and choose Edit from the menu of options.
2. On the post form, you will find a Status row that shows your event or game is defaulted to Scheduled. It’s easy to add a status to an existing event or game by clicking into that row. On the next screen, choose the appropriate status. You will see many options to choose from. A few popular ones are Canceled, Postponed, New Location, New Time, and New Date depending on the nature of your change.
On Sale and Virtual are also popular options, but oftentimes get added in the post creation process as opposed to the post edit process. If you choose On Sale, you could always change the existing status to Sales Ended or Sold Out once the status has changed. One last popular event status is Save-the-Date. This is used in the creation process on long lead events.
3. Once you’ve made your changes, don’t forget to SAVE.
When you save your new status change, there are times you may want to notify your members of this important change. With material changes such as new date/time, home/away, new location, or event status, once you hit SAVE, a menu will appear where you can either a) Continue Without Notifying (for smaller changes) or b) notify you membership with a Push Notification, In-App Alert, Post, Email, or Group Chat. When you select one of these options, GroupSpot provides default text summarizing your change. You can customize this default text to your liking and then notify your membership of the change.
Once you’ve saved your new status, you will see a special status bar call out on your feed post so this important change stands out. Once your event or game has passed, this status bar will change from the original green/red/purple color to gray color to indicate the event has passed.
