Push notifications are one of the most common ways to get someone’s attention. They are banners that appear from the top of your screen and will display regardless whether GroupSpot is open or closed. These are great when you are under the gun and need to get people’s attention. They work great for last minute event reminders and important updates. They are heavy handed because they are more intrusive than an in-app alert or an email, so use them wisely. Here’s how to send a push notification.
1. From your group’s home screen, select the menu at the top right of your screen and select Communications at the bottom of your menu options.
2. Next, choose Push Notification from the different communications options.
3. When you send a push notification, prepare your message, choose your Subgroups and Sister Groups if applicable, and then press SEND.
4. If you want to get ahead of your communications and schedule your in-app alert for the future, select the clock icon in the Send: Now row to set your delivery date and time.
5. Once you’ve hit the green SEND button, you will return to your main communications screen. To confirm, your push notification has been sent or scheduled, select Log. Once opened, you will find a running list of any upcoming scheduled communications or previously sent messages. This log includes push notifications, in-app alerts, and emails. It’s essentially your sent box. This helps admins audit their communications.
