How to Turn Off Comments

There may come a time when an Admin wants or needs to turn off comments on posts altogether or even on a post-by-post basis. GroupSpot provides both options to fit the situation.

Turning Off All Comments

To blanket turn off all comments for members, we need to head to your group’s Privacy settings. Whether this is done in group creation or after the fact, this setting is easy to locate and action.

1. Open your group menu from your group’s home screen.

2. Tap on Group Settings.

3. Scroll down and tap Privacy under Core Settings.

4. Locate Who Can Post and Comment?

5. Decide who can comment: admins only or comments are disabled.

6. Either option will disable the ability for members to comment across all posts.

Turning Off Comments on a Single Post

There may come a time when you may want or need to disable comments on one post only, while keeping commenting open and available on all other posts. GroupSpot gives you the ability to turn off comments on a post-by-post basis.

1. During the post creation process, locate the tools in the lower navigation.

2. Tap the bended arrow to open up Commenting Permissions on this post.

3. Notice the message at the top that says “Override your group settings for just this post.”

4. Review your choices that allow you to turn off comments for members on this post: Only admins can comment and Comments are disabled.

5. Once enabled, you will notice that the bended arrow changes color from black to orange to indicate the change from your default setting.

6. Note that you can disable comments on an existing post just as easily when editing your post by opening the same Commenting Permissions, giving you maximum flexibility to accommodate your situation.
