Coaches and team managers running large sports programs with multiple teams across different age groups oftentimes have to move players and their families from one team to the next. Sometimes players age out into a new age group, other times players get promoted to the next level. This type of movement happens all the time. It happens most commonly in youth level sports and travel programs.
To make a transfer, there are a few things you need to know. First, only coaches who are Owners in the group can transfer players and their families. Second, coaches would need to be owners of both teams involved in the transfer. Lastly, coaches would need to establish a connection between these two teams by creating a sister group relationship. Here’s how to create a sister group relationship between teams.
1. From your group menu, choose Settings from the top row of choices.
2. Scroll down and select Organization.
3. Choose Sister Groups from your options.
4. Once selected, any team that the coach is an Owner of will appear in a list to choose from. He can choose the team or teams that he would like to establish a sister group relationship with by selecting them and hitting SAVE.
Once teams are connected by sister groups, you’re ready to transfer the player and his family from one team to the next. Here’s how to make the actual transfer.
1. From your group menu, choose Members from the top row of choices.
2. Find the player and family (as necessary) from the list and open his profile.
3. Select the Manage Member button.
4. Scroll the bottom of the player’s profile and select the Transfer to Sister Group button.
5. Choose the appropriate Sister Group to make the transfer and select DONE.
6. Once selected, you will be asked what you would like to do with the player’s membership in the original group. You can keep it as is or remove it altogether. If you’ve made a mistake or need to make this transfer later, you can just Cancel Transfer.
7. Follow these same steps if you need to move the player’s family members as well.
Just remember if you do not keep the player in the original group, you will likely want to delete his virtual roster profile from the team roster.
