At some point before the new season, usually when next year’s schedule becomes available, it’s time to start a new season and load next year’s games. Oftentimes admins add these games months in advance which is why GroupSpot defaults your game posts to display on your Calendar Only and not your Feed & Calendar. Though, it should be said that you can manually change this display when creating the game post if necessary.
Once the full schedule has been loaded into GroupSpot and the games are presumably located on the calendar only, admins can edit those games to include important details as the information becomes available. Things like streaming details, tailgate signups, hotel blocks for away games, and anything else can be added to these game posts way in advance of their scheduled game date. For teams who travel, this type of advanced information is paramount to keeping everyone in sync and well informed.
As the game date nears, there will eventually come a time when the games should be moved from the Calendar Only to the Feed & Calendar to make them visible to your community of supporters. Whether it's days out, one week out, or even longer, you decide how much lead time you want to make this game post visible. And once on the feed, if other content pushes your game post down the feed ahead of game day, it’s easy to Bump to Top which moves the post to the top of your feed once again.
Moving games from your calendar to your feed is simple to do:
1. Open the game post and tap on the ••• menu at the top right.
2. Select Display on Feed & Calendar.
3. Once selected, you will receive a notification confirmation in your lower navigation confirming the game has been successfully moved.
And if you ever need to move the game back to the calendar only from the feed, you would follow the reverse path:
1. Open the game post and tap on the ••• menu at the top right.
2. Select Display on Calendar Only.
3. Once selected, you will receive a notification confirmation in your lower navigation confirming the game has been successfully moved.
In addition to all the great information that is likely to live on your game posts, you will also notice that game posts are visually different from both standard posts and event posts. They have a scoreboard treatment at the top of the post in your team colors no less! And unlike standard or event posts, game posts have the ability to add scores, game status, and play-by-play. Here’s how to add these bells and whistles:
1. Open the game post and tap on the ••• menu at the top right.
2. Select Update Score from the menu.
3. Add your score updates, game status, and play-by-play then tap SAVE.
4. When you return to your game post, you will see your updates: new score, game status, and play-by-play (if provided).
Game posts were designed to stand out in your feed because we all know that the most important days on the calendar are game days. So streamline your game day experience by keeping all your most important game day details under one roof in a single post that’s super easy to find for your community of supporters.
